The Tempus Fugit Key is one of the many Keys.[1]

History[]

In the spring of 1915, John Locke used the Tempus Fugit Key to change his age from 14[2] to 25 years old so that he could participate in World War I.[1]

In 1988, Rendell Locke used the Tempus Fugit Key in the play 'The Tempest' to appear as Prospero.[3]

Uses[]

Want to be a grown-up? There's one (door) that will turn you into an old person when you walk through it.[4]

Dodge to Bode

The key, when inserted into its lock, can turn change the outward physical appearance of the user's age based on how much the key is turned,[5] allowing them to make themselves as old or as young as they want, physically.[3][1]

Door[]

The key goes into a tambour clock with the alchemical symbol for Saturn.[1]

Trivia[]

  • This key was initially called the Age Key by fans[6] until Joe Hill clarified it via Twitter.[7]
  • The features of this key have two different themes surrounding time:
    • The first is Saturn, the Roman name for the Greek Titan Cronus who was often conflated with Chronos, the Greek God of Time. Both gods inspired the Father Time mythological figure. The bit of the Key and the clock possess the symbol of the planet Saturn, while the key's body mimics a scythe, a weapon that symbolized Saturn, Cronus and Father Time.
    • The key's name, "Tempus Fugit", is Latin for "Time Flies". In fact, the key's appearance is a literal reference to this: the key's bow is a clock that possesses wings, symbolizing the phrase.
  • The Tempus Fugit Key is similar to the Timeshift Key in which both keys have a "time" themed design and both keys go into clocks.
