Season Three of Locke & Key was confirmed by Netflix on December 18, 2020.[3] It premiered on August 10, 2022,[4][1] and is the series' final season.[5][2]
Synopsis[]
"The Locke family uncovers more magic within Keyhouse, while a new threat -- the most dangerous one yet -- looms in Matheson with plans of his own for the keys."[6]

- The third season began filming on May 3, 2021, and concluded on September 17, 2021.[9]
- Joe Hill, the writer of the Locke & Key graphic novel series, would write an episode for the season.[10] This episode was revealed to be Curtain.
- On April 6, 2022, after it was announced that the third season would be the show's last, it was further revealed that the series' structure had been planned out after the success of the first season.[11]
- On August 17, 2022, Aaron Ashmore talked about how in his character of Duncan marrying Bryan. It's not only a union of two men, but it is an interracial marriage, as well. To which said that, "I think it is very important. I tend to hope, or tend to think, there are a lot more of these stories being told. That is where the world is at. People want to see those things. People want to see themselves represented. People want to see people they know and family members represented in a positive way on TV. I hope that is what is happening. It's great to see, and I hope the fact that we are able to do these things on TV means we are moving in the right direction, that there is going to be more acceptance."[12]
- Also on this day, regarding their decision as to why they decided to make the decision to end show after three seasons. Averill stated that "We felt that we had come to a natural endpoint with the stories that we wanted to tell with our characters, particularly the younger characters and their evolution. We had done an enormous part of the original, the source material we used, and we have our own original ideas as well, and it felt like a natural endpoint for us to tell at the end of the 3rd season". Whereas, Cuse went onto say that, "We didn't want to overstay our welcome, and also, it feels like in the world that we live in now, a show that is 28 episodes in total has good, long-term streamability".[13]
- On August 19, 2022 it was mentioned that because seasons 2 and 3 were shot back to back, the actors were given a unique opportunity to fully embody their characters.[14]
