Samuel Coffey is a minor antagonist in the Netflix adaption of Locke & Key, serving as a supporting antagonist in its third season.
Biography[]
Colonial Period[]
During the Revolutionary War, Coffey served on the side of the British alongside James Bolton and Frederick Gideon. Coffey was one of the men who attacks Keyhouse in 1775, but he was killed by the colonial militia when Benjamin Locke came back with help.[1]
Restoration as an Echo[]
In 2021, the demon possessing Frederick Gideon used the Echo Key to summon Coffey and James Bolton back and then freed them using the Anywhere Key, demonstrating their new invulnerability by having Bolton stab Coffey and revealing that he needed their help as they could steal the keys while he could not. The trio later infiltrated Keyhouse, but they were discovered and driven off by Tyler Locke with the Chain Key.[2] The two continued serving Gideon in his efforts to find they key, cutting their hair and changing into more modern clothes.[3][4]
Final Annihilation[]
Samuel Coffey later joined Gideon and Bolton to lay siege to Keyhouse, attempting to retrieve the keys by force. During the battle that follows, Kinsey used the Hercules Key to fight Coffey, but was eventually defeated. Kinsey was saved by Dodge who flew in through a window, grabbed Coffey and carried him away using the Angel Key. Dodge tossed Coffey through the Wellhouse door, causing the Echo to incinerate as Coffey crossed the threshold.[5]
