Merlin Clockworks is the mechanical owl automaton that is brought to life by the powers of the Owl Key.[1][2]
History[]
In 1915, Chamberlin Locke locked Merlin Clockworks, along with its Key, in the Vault of Shadows in order to prevent his son John Locke from attempting to use it to turn the tides of World War I.[3]
In 1988, Mark Cho activated Merlin Clockworks to summon help from Rendell Locke and the Tamers of the Tempest after Dodge kidnapped Duncan Locke. Later that night, Ellie Whedon later used Merlin to grab the Crown of Shadows and the Shadow Key off of Dodge's head in order to save Rendell and the others.[4]
On February 10, 2012, Dodge activated Merlin and used it to attack Tyler, Kinsey and Bode Locke in order to force them to give him the Omega Key. They managed to elude Merlin with the help of the Angel Wings.[5]
Properties[]
Merlin Clockworks is a mechanical owl that can only be activated with the Owl Key, which fits into its back.[5] Once activated, it can fly, and it will do its user's bidding. After the owl fulfills its objective, it will return to its user to await its next order.[4]
