Jamie Bennett is a character from Netflix's adaptation of Locke & Key. She is a close friend of Bode Locke and is the daughter of Josh Bennett.
Biography[]
Meeting Bode[]
Jamie first met Bode in class and was the only classmate who thought his summer story was cool. After class, they talked on the playground and became friends, bonding over their shared experience of losing a parent. After confirming that she was human, Bode trusted her with information about the magical keys.[1] Their parents, Nina and Josh, arranged play dates for the pair, and Jamie showed Bode a dollhouse that looked exactly like the Locke home. Bode tested a new key he found on the dollhouse, and to their surprise, they were able to see everything going on in the Locke home, including Tyler sitting in his bedroom.
Back at home, Bode found out that anything done to the dollhouse also happens to the Locke home. When a spider crawled into the dollhouse, a giant version appeared in the Locke home and terrorized the Locke siblings, Erin, and Bode's uncle, Duncan. Bode frantically called Jamie for help, and she saved the day, squishing the spider with a pencil. During his playdate with Jamie , Bode discovers that the key fits into her father's scale model of Keyhouse Manor. The model is revealed to be a dollhouse that, with the key inserted, shows the current state of the actual house, complete with moving miniature family members. Bode accidentally breaks the bed in his room and is forced to leave the key in Jamie's care when Josh walks in.[2]
While at Winterfest, Bode and Kinsey struggle to remain casual around Jamie and Gabe respectively. In a fit of childish mischief, Jamie takes Bode's bag and phone, and runs into a maze of hay bales, forcing Bode to follow. However after some initial trouble, Tyler and Kinsey manage to meet up with Duncan, Bode, and Jamie.[3]
While Eden is in the kitchen, Jamie traps her in a glass using the Small World Key and the dollhouse. Josh forces Jamie to stop playing with the dollhouse and confiscates the Small World Key, which frees Eden in the process.[4]
Jamie steals the Small World Key from her father and returns it to Bode at school.[5] Nina eavesdrops on Bode and Jamie's discussion, which deepens her frustration at being kept in the dark about the circumstances of her husband's death. Unbeknownst to her, Josh is conflicted about deceiving Jamie and Bode in his pursuit to see the Black Door. Jamie later sees her father leaving school with Eden. Gabe breaks into Josh's apartment and deduces that they are heading to the Black Door, and Bode and Jamie reach the same conclusion later. At the Drowning Caves, Josh has a bad feeling about the Black Door and gets suspicious of Eden. Gabe turns up to cause a cave-in with the Crown of Shadows, trapping Josh underground while Eden flees. Bode and Jamie then arrive and use the Hercules Key to dig Josh out, after which he promptly forgets the entire incident.[6]
Adventures with the Lockes[]
Bode uses the Timeshift Key to take Jamie into the past, and speak to a young Duncan. Bode is intent on seeing his father, but time runs out again before he can do so. In the present, Duncan does not remember interacting with Bode because of the key's effects. He confiscates the Timeshift Key from his nephew on account of its unpredictability and gives it to Nina for safekeeping.[7] Jamie begins to notice Bode's new hostility and aloofness.[8]
Captain Frederick Gideon sends James Bolton to kidnap Jamie in order to force the Lockes to reveal the location of the last key. Josh is shot in the process, but warns the Lockes about Bolton's mission. Later, when Bolton appears, Kinsey and Tyler persuade him to release Jamie in exchange for the location of the final key, and Nina rushes Josh to the hospital.[9] Bode warns Josh and Jamie Bennett that Gideon is out and about and to be careful.[10] Once Gideon is defeated and the keys are disposed of, Josh and Jamie Bennett move in with the Lockes, and Bode finally warms up to the former.[11]
