The Harlequin Key is one of the keys created by Chamberlin Locke in the comics,[1] and by Benjamin Locke in the Netflix series.[2]
History[]
The Harlequin Key and its wardrobe were created by Chamberlin Locke sometime after 1915 as a more secure means of hiding the more dangerous Keys and weapons.[1] He created this after his son, John Locke, foiled his first attempt to hide the keys when John bypassed The Great Lock guarding the Keys.[3][1]
In 1927, Mary Locke used the Harlequin Key to retrieve the Angel Key and wings, Moon Key, the Shadow Key and the Crown of Shadows, the Music Box and key, and the key that activated the enchanted sword, in preparation for her journey into Hell.[1]

Bode finds the Hercules, Angel, and Harlequin Keys
In 2012, Bode discovered the key in a hollow book titled "Keys to the Kingdom", along with the Hercules Key and the Angel Key. When used on a door with a harlequin on the front, the Locke children find the associated with the aforementioned keys inside.[4]
Uses[]
The key unlocks the Harlequin Wardrobe, revealing hidden things not seen when unlocked with an ordinary key.
