Locke & Key: Face the Music is the third story of the Golden Age series. It was released in the hardcover volume of the series.[2][3][4]
Synopsis[]
Chamberlin Locke seeing that his family is sad (most likely to grief over Ian's passing) decides to take them outside at night with a special gramophone and have them dance a foxtrot in the moonlight. He inserts the Orchestra Key into the gramophone and a tiny human orchestra emerges from the gramophone's sound horn and play the waltz as Chamberlin dances with Mary, Fiona dances with John and Jean dances with her teddy bear, Mr. Stuffs. However Tiberius curiously paws at the gramophone's tone arm causing the needle to scratch across the record. This causes the tiny human orchestra to be shredded in a gory mess, traumatizing Mary, John and Jean. Chamberlin has to spend the rest of the night using the Head Key to remove all the traumatic memories of his children.
Trivia[]
- This issue is three pages long, making it the shortest Locke & Key issue to date.[5][6]
- This marks the first appearance of the Orchestra Key.[7][8]
- Locke & Key: Face the Music was originally conceptualized as a vinyl record audiobook, aformat that Joe Hill previously used to adapt his short novella "Dark Carousel".[9] However the project failed to materialize and "Face the Music" was instead adapted as a comic.[10]
