Forget Me Not is the fourth episode of the second season of Locke & Key. It aired on October 22, 2021.
Summary[]
With Duncan's emotional state deteriorating, Gabe confronts one of the Lockes, Tyler surprises Jackie on her birthday, and Kinsey faces up to her fears.
Plot[]
To his intense confusion, Duncan Locke's childhood memories return in bits and pieces. He turns over the Anywhere Key to Kinsey and Tyler Locke, unable to explain how he found it. Erin Voss and the Locke children resolve to find the Memory Key to help stabilize Duncan's memories.
Meanwhile, Gabe and Eden Hawkins have a heated discussion about why Chamberlin Locke might have lied about the key-forging process. Gabe reveals that the keys' loyalty to the Lockes applies even when they are not on the Lockes' persons. Scot Cavendish watches them quarrel from afar, interpreting their unheard conversation as an intimate argument. Tyler uses the Anywhere Key to take Jackie Veda on a day trip to England for her imminent birthday, but her memory loss flares up later, causing her to panic and ask Tyler to return home.
Nina Locke gives Josh Bennett advice on catering for the dorm social he is hosting that night, and the two share a quick kiss before parting ways. Kinsey happens to see the exchange, and Scot draws her away to talk before Nina can explain herself. Scot suspects Gabe of having used the Music Key to control his actions, and tells Kinsey about having seen Gabe and Eden together. Kinsey refuses to believe him, and Scot questions the wisdom of removing her Fear from her head. Their conversation ends on a sour note.
Gabe visits Keyhouse to confront Chamberlin over his deception. The ghost reveals that Gabe's identity as a demon had been apparent in his ghost form all along, and that only Lockes can forge new keys. The conversation is actually a ruse for Sam Lesser's ghost to pass through the Ghost Door and enter Gabe's unoccupied body, but Gabe catches on, and the two enter Gabe's body simultaneously. Gabe manages to resist Sam's attempts to kill his body, and expels his ghost back through the door. Concerned for his safety, Bode Locke follows his uncle to the Keyhouse shed as Duncan relives his memories of forging the Memory Key and having his memories removed by the Keepers of the Keys. With Bode having given Gabe the Ghost Key to use earlier, Gabe takes the key with him as he leaves Keyhouse.
Nina catches Erin searching the manor for the Memory Key, and the two talk about Rendell Locke, only for Nina to leave in tears. Learning that Duncan's condition has not improved, Kinsey wonders if restoring his memories was a mistake, and expresses regret for removing her Fear. Acting on Bode's suggestion, she remotely calls her Fear back to her and returns it to her head. Duncan traumatically remembers his brother killing Lucas Caravaggio in the basement, and retires to his room in pain. To help him, Erin uses the Head Key to search her memories for clues as to the Memory Key's whereabouts, and she and Tyler realize Rendell hid it in Matheson Academy.
At the dorm social, Abby tells Kinsey about Scot not getting into his choice of college. Josh displays his historical artifacts to the students, and Gabe spots a piece of Whispering Iron among them. Kinsey catches them in the act when he and Eden go to steal it. Eden talks her way out of suspicion, but Kinsey starts to have doubts about Gabe thanks to her restored sense of fear. Back at their cabin, Gabe and Eden realize that Kinsey has reabsorbed her Fear. Eden urges Gabe to coerce Kinsey into forging his new key.
At Keyhouse, Nina talks to Kinsey about Josh, but Kinsey assures her mother she's happy for her. The conversation turns to Gabe, and Nina advises Kinsey to trust her instincts about his questionable behavior. Meanwhile, a tormented Duncan obsessively sketches the Drowning Caves, and starts to hallucinate Bode as his own childhood self, going so far as to lash out at the child and chase him out of his room. The episode ends with Duncan as a shadow of his former self, clutching his head in agony.

Trivia[]
- The memory that Erin shows to Tyler is labeled "Rendell's Goodbye."
- The door on the cover of the Jane Austen biography that Tyler gifts to Jackie (and which they later travel to via the Anywhere Key) appears to be an in-universe rendition of No. 4 Sydney Place, a Georgian-style building in Bath, England where Austen and her family lived in the early 19th century.
- Gabe has a black parasite attached to his spine in his ghost form, indicating he is possessed by a demon. The parasite was also present during his first meeting with Chamberlin, albeit in very quick shots.[1]
- Eden subsequently identifies the iron material of the keys as Whispering Iron.
