Biography[]
Experiences on Earth[]
A demon that dwelt in a blue dimension, little is known about this being. When the Black Door was opened and exposed in the present day, the demon was among the three demons that surges forward from the door and the only one to successfully possess a human, Eden Hawkins, just after Ellie Whedon was cast into the dimension by the Keepers of the Keys. Famished, she goes to a diner and wound up ordering the majority of menu items. Dodge, who had been in a similar situation once, met her there, and the two made contact.[1]
Eden assists Dodge's endeavors to forge a key to create more demons. Eventually, Eden is left alone when Dodge is killed, and turns to summoning Frederick Gideon as an Echo to continue her own plans, and learns that he too has been possessed by a demon. However, he has no intention of doing her will and drops her headfirst into the well and takes up the Anywhere Key before disappearing into Matheson Academy, killing the demon.[2][3]
Two months later, Gideon sends Ada Wheeler down the well where she finds Eden's corpse. Gideon has Ada search Eden's pockets and retrieve the Echo Key for him.[3]
The Timeshift Key[]
When Bode travels back in time using the Timeshift Key, he encounters Eden, having been transported to the night that Dodge had forced Duncan to create the Demon Key for her. Holding the past Bode captive with the Chain Key, Eden is shocked and confused by the appearance of a second Bode Locke.[4]
Personality[]
–Eden
The demon that possessed Eden Hawkins retained most of Eden's previous traits, albeit with a darker twist to them. She is independent and spunky, but in contrast to Dodge's patience and cunning, she has a complete lack of restraint, and indulged frequently in violent impulses, eating Karl's face out of pure primal instinct and urging Dodge to murder Kinsey repeatedly. Furthermore, Eden's demon had a strong appetite driven by hunger and pleasure, gorging herself on alcoholic beverages, much to Jackie's chagrin. Because of her self-driven nature, she despised being ordered by a fellow demon like Dodge as though she were inferior to her and hypocritically wanted to order another demon around later on. This, coupled with her overconfidence, has proven to be her undoing, as she let her guard down in her immoderately determined state. This allowed others to get the better of her, such as Kinsey and Scot using the Head Key when she was passed out and giving a demon the moment to betray her.
Furthermore, Eden was considerably less social than her host, not seeing any point in connecting with Eden's friends, and even rebuking Jackie checking on her and Brinker trying to console her. She did respect a particularly fearsome demon, however, but she still wanted to control him despite it being an extremely unrealistic objective.
