The Creation Key is one of the Keys.

History[]

The Creation Key is first seen being used by Rendell Locke in 1995, who uses it to draw Caliban, a character from The Tempest, and bring it to life. The creature runs around for a bit, causing damage and attracting the attention of Gordie Shaw, biting him. Although Rendell manages to catch and erase it before Gordie can get a good look, he is still suspicious.

Later, Rendell, Duncan, Ellie, and Erin go into Gordie's head with the Head Key to remove his memory of the event. Worried the key is too dangerous, Ellie hides it in a coat in Gordie's mind.[1]

When Frederick Gideon emerges in the present day, he discovers despite having every key the Lockes found, he needs one more to fully open a portal to his world. Ellie reveals she knows where the Creation Key is, and leads the captain to him. Breaking into his mind, they search for the key, soon followed by Tyler, Kinsey, and Sam for the same purpose. Realizing it was moved (presumably by Erin), the Lockes manage to find it in a piano and run off. Everyone (excluding Sam) then vacates Gordie's mind before he dies.

Running from the demon, Tyler uses the key to create a door into a random bar, then add a deadbolt onto it. Kinsey then takes the key and draws a bike on the road, creating a motorcycle that the two use to make their escape. When they return to Keyhouse, Bode gets an idea to use the key to create a bulldozer and shove Gideon into the wellhouse with it. When that fails, the family realizes they still need to get into the Harlequin chest. Kinsey uses the Creation Key again to draw a door onto the chest, getting the Alpha Key inside.

The key isn't seen again until the Lockes throw it into the pit.[2]

Uses[]

The pin of the Key is a drawing utensil, and anything drawn with the pin is made real. If the drawing is supposed to be a living creature, then that creature also comes to life.[1]

The bow of the Key acts as an eraser, and touching the creation with the bow causes the creation to be uncreated.[1]
